LITERACY

Whether your child is currently focused on reading, writing, or sharing ideas (or all at once!), literacy support and enrichment will help in the following areas:

-Phonemic Awareness (manipulation of syllables or sounds within words)

-Phonics (using the relationship between letter symbols and sounds to read words)

-Fluency (ability to read with speed, accuracy, and proper expression)

-Vocabulary

-Comprehension (understanding of what has been read)

-Spelling

Using various assessments, I will pinpoint areas of weakness and create a plan for your child that will strengthen those areas to make him/her a more confident reader and writer. Books at your child’s instructional level will be provided along with games and other tutor made materials.

Math

Math should be approached with an understanding how to problem solve while finding an accurate answer. Concepts taught in kindergarten will connect to standards in the future. When a child is struggling with a particular math skill, I will review key tactics taught in the past. Solid understanding of skills taught in previous grades will help your child better understand the techniques taught in the future.

Each lesson is individualized using math standards as a guide and created to meet the needs of your child.

Executive Function

Executive function is a set of mental skills that help you get things done. These include the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and juggle multiple tasks at once.

While sessions targeted in literacy or math often contain components that support executive functioning, sometimes specific focus on organizational skills are required to support content learning.
